The Wall Is the Gallery

Street art in Burque ain’t a mural trail. It’s how this city writes on itself.

Albuquerque warehouse murals at dusk with a lowrider at the curb

A good wall in this town don’t wait for a cultural-district map. Barelas, South Broadway, downtown alleys, a Westside lot: the paint goes up because somebody who lives here had something to put on brick. Lowrider profiles. Saints. Lettering that could’ve come off a plaque. The mountain, once, in a color the mountain actually turns.

Street art here is family with the cruise. Same patience. Same chrome instinct. Same argument with whoever wants Burque to look like everywhere else. Some walls last a decade. Some last a season. The ones that matter get a folding chair. Come sit.

Come stand with the wall. The barrio will tell you what it means.
